The catch can draws out oil and water condensation from crankcase gases that would otherwise be drawn into the intake manifold. This prevents oil buildup in the intake, intercooler system walls, throttle body, and intake manifold — effectively raising the octane, improving engine performance from cleaner inlet air, and lowering hydrocarbon emissions. The closed system also prevents unwanted oil vapours from entering the cabin.

This kit installs to the firewall and plumbs into the brake booster intake manifold port, making it compatible with all model years (RHD and LHD). It maintains the OEM closed system operation of the PCV valve while keeping oil and contaminants out of the intake manifold. Because Radium catch cans are pressure sealed, they are safe for boosted applications — connecting to the intake manifold is permitted without a check valve.

Fluid Lock® Technology

In 2022, Radium Engineering implemented a revolutionary design change to the 7 fluid ounce standard catch can. An inherent problem with typical catch cans is that when not serviced regularly, collected fluid contaminants overflow into the air intake system, causing poor engine performance. The Fluid Lock® Catch Can resolves this with a patented mechanism that prevents the reservoir from overfilling and traps collected fluids until it is emptied.

Collection & Emptying

The rate of oil and moisture collection will vary between vehicles — check the oil level using the integrated dipstick starting at 3–4 weeks of driving and repeat as needed. Catch cans can be emptied by unscrewing the lower reservoir, or by installing the optional Petcock Drain Kit where space permits.

Excessive oil collection may indicate an underlying engine issue such as excessive blowby, crankcase windage from an over-full oil level, poor breather port placement, or a PCV valve not closing under heavy load.
