Radium Fuel Hanger Surge Tank (FHST), Audi R8 / Lamborghini Gallardo / Huracan

The Radium Engineering 20-0860 Fuel Hanger Surge Tank (FHST) is a drop-in aftermarket fuel pump solution for the Audi R8 and Lamborghini Gallardo / Huracan platform. Designed to independently supply fuel to a port injection system, the FHST leaves the OEM direct injection fuel system completely undisturbed — the factory pump, filter, FPR, and venturi jet pumps all continue to operate as standard.

The integrated surge tank canister ensures a constant fuel reserve is maintained around the aftermarket pump, eliminating fuel starvation under hard cornering, acceleration, or low fuel conditions — critical for high-power and track applications.

How the FHST Works

The FHST drops into the LH opening of the fuel tank — the opposing side of the OEM fuel pump on the RH side. It does not disrupt any aspect of the OEM fuel system and retains all OEM fuel level sensors. The FHST canister is supplied with fuel from three independent sources:

1. LH OEM venturi jet pump — now fills the FHST canister first; overflow bleeds into the OEM pump basket as factory
2. Aftermarket FPR return — returning fuel enters the canister through a diverter to prevent aeration and fuel foaming
3. Three 1-way fill valves — flow 355LPH each (1,065LPH total); allow fuel in but not out, maintaining the surge reserve

Plumbing

For Lamborghini Gallardo LP and Gen 1 Audi R8 (Type 42) vehicles, this FHST is used in conjunction with the Radium 20-0865 Port Injection Fuel Rail Kit and the Radium 20-0867-03 or 20-0867-05 Port Injection Plumbing Kit. For Lamborghini Huracan and Gen 2 Audi R8 (Type 4S) vehicles, consult with your tuner to configure the system for your specific application.

Electrical

Custom designed stainless steel electrical studs handle the high current demands of modern high-flow fuel pumps. Connections are hermetically sealed and impervious to all standard and exotic fuels. Non-conductive anodised aluminium acorn nuts prevent accidental short circuiting. In-tank wiring is insulated with chemically resistant ETFE. A relay kit (such as Radium 17-0031) is recommended to drive the FHST pump.
