Radium FPD-R Fuel Pulse Dampener - 3/8" NPT
Application: Universal – EFI fuel systems with a base fuel pressure of 40-70psi (3/8" NPT direct mount)
Part Type: Fuel pulse damper, FPD-R standard range, 3/8" NPT direct mount
Part Number: 20-0178
The opening and closing of fuel injectors creates pressure pulses in the fuel rail. The internal diaphragm of the Radium FPD absorbs these oscillating pulses and stabilises fuel pressure, which can help resolve idle surge (especially with high-flow injectors) and erratic lean spikes that are difficult to tune out.
Radium FPDs use a vacuum/boost reference port, allowing proper damper performance at elevated fuel pressures – important for boosted engines with a rising-rate fuel pressure regulator. The FPD-R (standard range) suits vehicles with a base fuel pressure between 40 and 70psi. This 20-0178 version has 3/8" NPT male threads for direct mounting, the vacuum port can be clocked during tightening, and the damper can be mounted at any angle, including upside down.
Key Features
- Pressure Stabilisation: Internal diaphragm absorbs injector pulses and stabilises rail pressure
- Vacuum/Boost Reference: Reference port maintains damper performance at elevated fuel pressures
- Standard Range: For base static fuel pressures of 40-70psi
- Direct Mount: 3/8" NPT male thread with a clockable vacuum port
- Mount Anywhere: Can be mounted at any angle, including upside down
- Fuel Compatibility: Safe for all fuel types including E85
What's Included
- Anodised, laser-engraved aluminium top
- Anodised aluminium body with 3/8" NPT male threads
- Stainless steel hardware
- 4mm ID rubber vacuum hose
- Vacuum hose Y-fitting
Optional Parts
- Radium Fuel Pulse Damper - Direct Mount (FPD-R / FPD-XR) | 8AN ORB or 3/8" NPT (20-0179) – FPD-XR extended-range version for base fuel pressures of 40-105psi
Important Notes
- Base fuel pressure (pump running, no vacuum line connected to the regulator) must be within 40-70psi – for higher base pressures choose the FPD-XR (20-0179)
- If dynamic fuel pressure from a rising-rate regulator goes outside 40-70psi, the vacuum/boost reference line must be connected
- Not suitable for mechanical fuel pumps or high-pressure direct injection pumps – the pulses will quickly rupture the diaphragm
- Requires a 3/8" NPT female mating port; tapered threads require thread sealant
- Installation instructions are available in the Instructions tab
