R35 GT-R Catch Can System Overview
Radium Engineering offers two complementary catch can kits for the R35 GT-R, designed to work independently or together for maximum crankcase protection:
- 20-0565-FL — PCV Catch Can Kit (this kit): Mounts near the brake master cylinder at the rear of the engine bay. Runs inline between the PCV valve and the intake manifold. Effective during light cruising, idle, and deceleration when the PCV valve is open.
- 20-0566 — Dual CCV Catch Can Kit: Mounts at the front of the engine. Interfaces with the breather lines from both cylinder heads to the turbo intake piping. Contains two catch cans — one per head breather. Effective under boost when the PCV valve closes and all blow-by exits via the head breathers.
For the ultimate in engine protection, Radium recommends running both kits together.
PCV Catch Can Kit - 20-0565-FL
The PCV catch can runs inline between the PCV valve and the intake manifold, mounting on the LH side of the engine compartment. During idle, steady-state cruising, and deceleration, the PCV hoses experience metered vacuum — this would normally draw crankcase vapour, unspent fuel, and oil sludge directly into the intake manifold. The Radium catch can intercepts this before it reaches the engine. The catch can must be emptied periodically.
Notes:
- The PCV kit is not directly compatible with 2008-2011 GT-Rs, which did not have an OEM strut bar
- For RHD vehicles, some modifications may be required for catch can mounting
- No extra inline check valve required — Radium catch cans are pressure sealed, permitting a direct intake manifold connection
- Compatible with and recommended to be used alongside the Dual CCV Catch Can Kit (20-0566)
