What is DFV (Dual Flow Valve)?
DFV is Öhlins' proprietary damping technology that sets the Road & Track range apart from conventional coilovers. The dual flow valve provides consistent damping characteristics on both compression and rebound strokes — the damper fluid follows a consistent flow path in both directions. This means the wheel and tyre can rapidly return to the road surface after a bump, maximising grip and traction at all times.
Because DFV opens more quickly on minor road imperfections, ride comfort is surprisingly supple — more akin to an OEM strut than a typical coilover. Over undulating surfaces, the compliance of the R&T units allows the car to crest bumps and potholes while remaining stable and in control. Traction is always maintained at its optimum level.
Öhlins also incorporates a unique needle bleed valve that expands with temperature, compensating for changes in fluid viscosity as the damper heats up. The result: consistent damping performance lap after lap, regardless of operating temperature.
