Why choose Alcon brake discs and parts?
For serious racing conditions, OEM pads likely won’t carry enough mass to offset the heat and friction generated by sharp stalling. The best way to improve this is by:
- Installing larger pads
- Choosing rotors and calipers made of higher quality materials (like carbon ceramics)
- Increasing air flow to speed up cooling time
Alcon produces a large amount of large-sized kits for a wide variety of vehicle models. Our packs allow you to get greater mass into your car instantly, preparing it for more rigorous riding.
The next thing you’ll want to keep in mind are the pistons, which shape the discs over time. Most OEMs will come with single or double pistons. The trouble with this is that it can cause uneven wear, leading to more frequent pad changes. The models in our line are ideal for offsetting this problem as they’ve been fitted with multiple staggered pistons that ensure flat wear develops, extending the lifespan of your system.
In saying all that, ABS systems are calibrated to the size of the brake setup that the vehicle is designed for, so it’s important to choose a kit that contains similar pistons to the OEM specs. It is possible to tune custom models and ensure perfect synchronisation, but this is best left to the professionals. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you need a hand – we know our way around aftermarket modifications for track and street alike.
